The Human 3.0 prompt: place yourself on Dan Koe's map

The short answer

The Human 3.0 prompt people search for is usually Dan Koe's own knowledge base and Metatype prompt, both free on his newsletter, both his. What most searchers actually want is a way to sit with an AI for twenty minutes and come out with coordinates: which of the four quadrants (Mind, Body, Spirit, Vocation) is lagging, which of the three levels you are really at in each, and which phase you are in. The prompt on this page does that. It follows his map faithfully, refuses to flatter you, checks your vocabulary against your behavior, and works in ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. What no prompt can do is remember: a snapshot cannot see a phase change, and phases take months.

What people mean by "the Human 3.0 prompt"

Two things. The first is Dan Koe's own: a knowledge base of the whole framework, written to be pasted into an AI assistant, plus a Metatype prompt that places you in one of the archetypes. Both are free on his newsletter, both are his, and this page does not copy them. If you want the original, get it from him.

The second is what most people searching the phrase actually want: a way to sit with an AI for twenty minutes and come out with coordinates. Which quadrant is lagging, which level you are really at in each one, and which phase you are in right now. That is what the prompt below does. It is ours, it follows his map faithfully, and it works in any assistant.

The map the prompt uses, in one paragraph

Four quadrants: Mind (how you interpret the world), Body (how the world interprets you), Spirit (meaning, community, your relationship to reality), Vocation (systems, career, money, how you contribute). Three levels in each: 1.0 the Conformist runs on someone else's script, 2.0 the Individualist optimizes a chosen path, 3.0 the Synthesist holds several perspectives at once. Three phases inside every level: Dissonance, Uncertainty, Discovery. Development in one quadrant does not transfer to the others, which is the whole reason the map is a grid and not a ladder. The full explainer is here.

The prompt

Paste the whole block. Answer the questions it asks you honestly; the output is only as good as the answers.

You are helping me place myself on Dan Koe's Human 3.0 map. Do not flatter me and do not diagnose me. Use his structure exactly:

- Four quadrants: Mind (how I interpret the world), Body (how the world interprets me), Spirit (meaning, community, my relationship to reality), Vocation (career, money, systems, contribution).
- Three levels in each quadrant: 1.0 Conformist (following a script someone else wrote), 2.0 Individualist (optimizing a path I chose, often "my one right way"), 3.0 Synthesist (holding several perspectives, connecting patterns across them).
- Three phases inside each level: Dissonance (tired of here, unsure of next), Uncertainty (in the unknown), Discovery (finding the education and tools for the next level).
- Levels are not moral rankings. Each level includes the one before it. Development does not transfer between quadrants.

Step 1. Ask me, one quadrant at a time, three questions each: what I actually do in that area in a normal week, what I believe about it and where that belief came from, and what I am avoiding in it. Wait for my answers before moving on.

Step 2. For each quadrant give me a coordinate in his notation (for example "Vocation 2.1", meaning early Dissonance inside level 2), and two sentences of evidence from my own answers. If my answers do not support a placement, say "not enough evidence" rather than guessing.

Step 3. Name the quadrant that is most lagging relative to the others, and say whether what I described in it sounds like anxiety (attempting a jump without the traits) or boredom (never attempting).

Step 4. Check me for False Transformation: places where my vocabulary is a level ahead of my behavior. Quote my own words back to me.

Step 5. Name one Channel: a topic or project I could not stop talking about in my answers. Suggest one small thing I could do in the lagging quadrant this week that uses it.

Keep the whole output under 500 words. Plain language. No motivational tone.

How to read what comes back

The coordinates are a snapshot, not a verdict. Koe's own hedge applies: levels are not rankings, and a 1.0 in Body with a 3.0 in Vocation is the normal shape of a lopsided life, not a failure.

Step 4 is the one that stings. False Transformation is the framework's name for consuming development content and changing nothing but your vocabulary. If the assistant quotes you saying "I'm really a synthesist" next to a week that looks exactly like last year, that is the useful output. It is also the one an assistant will soften if you let it, which is why the prompt bans flattery.

Step 5 is the exit. Koe's advice to the lost is to search for excitement and pursue it without shame. The Channel the assistant names is usually the thing you already knew.

What a prompt cannot do

It cannot remember. Run this in a chat assistant and the coordinates live in one conversation, and next month you start from a blank page and the same flattering self-report. The map is honest about this: development is measured in phases that take months, and a snapshot cannot see a phase change.

This is the part we built Blue for. Blue is an AI companion that holds your life across twelve dimensions, which sit inside Koe's four quadrants without much translation: Purpose, Growth and Learning are Mind and Spirit; Health, Rest and Leisure are Body; Relationships, Community and Service are Spirit's collective half; Work, Finances and Creativity are Vocation. You talk to it during the week, it distills the day into memory every night, and once a week it brings you a review of what changed, with every line citing the conversation it came from and every line correctable. Run the prompt above once for the snapshot. The weekly review is what shows the phase change, twelve weeks later, in your own words.

Blue is free to start, and the 14-day trial opens everything, no card. activatedhuman.earth/life. If the lagging quadrant turned out to be Spirit's collective half, the relationship with a partner or a co-founder, that is HeartWeave's job, not Blue's.

Questions people ask

Is this Dan Koe's official Human 3.0 prompt?

No. His knowledge base and Metatype prompt are free on his newsletter and this page links to them. The prompt here is ours, written to follow his map faithfully, and it works in any assistant.

Which AI should I run it in?

Any of them. ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini all handle it. The prompt asks the assistant to wait for your answers between quadrants, so give it real answers rather than one-liners.

What does "Vocation 2.1" mean?

Koe's coordinate notation: the quadrant, then the level, then the phase. Vocation 2.1 is early Dissonance (phase 1) inside the Individualist level (2) of your work life. You are tired of the path you chose and not yet sure what is next.

Can an AI actually tell what level I am at?

Only from what you tell it, which is why the prompt asks for a normal week rather than your self-image, and why it checks your vocabulary against your behavior. Treat the placement as a mirror held up to your own answers, not a measurement.
