Talking to BlueUpdated November 8, 2026

Listen and voices

Hearing Blue read a reply aloud on every plan, the monthly allowance by plan, the eight voices, how replies arrive, and voice-note replies on Pro.

Every reply from Blue can be read aloud. Tap the listen button under a reply and Blue's voice starts. This is on every plan, within a monthly allowance.

The allowance

Listen is measured in characters of text read aloud, per month. Free has 10,000 characters a month, Plus 250,000 and Pro 600,000.

The 14-day trial carries a one-time allowance of 100,000 characters for the whole trial. Live conversation draws from the same monthly allowance on Plus and Pro. The allowance is monthly; when it is used up, text replies continue as normal.

Eight voices

Pick Blue's voice in Profile Settings → Replies. Eight to choose from, grouped feminine and masculine: Hope, Elise, Jenna and Lucy; Mark, Archer, Brian and Jarnathan. The voice you pick is saved to your account, so it is the same on the web, your iPhone and your Mac.

How replies arrive

Also in Replies, choose how Blue's answers reach you. Text gives you the reply as written, with the listen button when you want it. Text + audio starts the voice while the reply is still being written, so you can listen as it lands. Voice note has Blue speak first; tap to read instead.

You can change this any time, or ask Blue to change it for you.

Voice-note replies on Pro

On Pro, Blue can answer with a voice note of its own, the way a friend might. Choose Voice note as your delivery, or ask Blue for one. On Free and Plus you hear Blue through the listen button; the voice-note form of a reply is the Pro part.

Sending your own voice

Voice notes from you work on every plan and every surface: hold to talk, slide up to cancel, and Blue transcribes and answers the words. See Voice notes, photos, and files.

Your own voice

Adding your own voice to Blue (cloning) is not switched on at the moment. The eight library voices are what Blue speaks with today.

Live time

Live conversation has its own limits inside the shared allowance: 30 live minutes a day and 30 minutes per session, with a notice about two minutes before the time runs out.
