Talking with Blue out loud on Plus and Pro: how a live stretch works, cutting in, the time it uses, and choosing when Blue answers.
Live conversation is talking with Blue out loud, the way you would on a call. It is on Plus and Pro.
Starting
A Live pill sits in the composer. Tap it and Blue waits for you to speak first. Every word, yours and Blue's, lands in today's thread as text, and a "Live conversation · time" divider marks the stretch, so you can read back later what was said out loud. No audio is kept; only the words.
On Free the pill shows as locked. Live is not offered inside an incognito chat.
While you talk
You can cut in while Blue is talking. Blue stops, and the unspoken rest of its reply shows faint in the thread with a "you cut in" mark, so nothing is lost and nothing is forced on you. The controls are Mute, speaker or earpiece, and End.
When Blue answers
In Profile Settings, "When Blue answers in live talk" has three settings: Quickly, Balanced, and Wait for me. Pick Wait for me if you think out loud in long stretches and want Blue to hold back until you are done; pick Quickly for a back-and-forth.
The time it uses
Live time comes out of the same monthly voice allowance as Listen (250,000 characters a month on Plus, 600,000 on Pro), with a cap of 30 live minutes a day and 30 minutes per session. A notice shows about two minutes before the time runs out, so you can wrap up. See Listen and voices.
Where it works
Live conversation is in the web app, the iPhone app and the Mac app. The thread it writes into is the same one you type in, so you can start out loud on a walk and continue by text at your desk.
Live and memory
Because every word lands in the thread as text, a live stretch is remembered the way a typed conversation is: summarized that night, searchable later, and part of what Blue draws on for Today and your reviews. The one exception is incognito, where Live is not offered at all.
On the plans
Live conversation is a Plus and Pro feature, and the 14-day trial includes it. If you move to Free, the pill locks and your past live stretches stay readable in the history drawer. See Plans and pricing.
