Creating your space and inviting your person

Opening a Container, choosing the kind of relationship it holds, and how invitations work.

A Container is the shared space for one relationship. Opening one takes a minute, and then you invite the people it is for. Here is how it works from start to finish.

Open a Container

When you first sign in, HeartWeave walks you through creating your space. You can also start a new one later from your dashboard. You give it a name and choose the kind of relationship it holds.

The kind is just there to help HeartWeave understand the relationship. A Container can hold:

  • Romantic partners
  • Co-founders or business partners
  • Family
  • Close friends
  • A polyamorous constellation
  • A mentor pair

There is nothing to get right here. Pick the one that fits, and change the name later if you want.

Invite the other people

A Container is a shared space, so the next step is inviting the people it is for. You send each invitation to their email address. They get a link, sign in or create their account, and land in the shared space with you.

Invitations expire after 14 days. If one runs out before your person accepts, just send a fresh one.

Until someone accepts, your shared space is simply waiting for them. Your own private reflection room is yours to use from the moment you sign in.

What each person gets

Once your people have joined, everyone in the Container has:

  • Their own private reflection room, which no one else can see
  • The shared space, guided by the neutral Mediator

The wall between the two holds for everyone. What you write privately stays private. See The wall between private and shared.

Seats and paying

Each person in a Container takes a seat, and each seat is part of the one plan. On the web you are billed per seat by card. On mobile you buy a package sized to the number of people: Solo for 1, Couple for 2, Small Group for 3, Family for 4, or Group for 6.

Before anyone pays, HeartWeave gives a limited preview: a private reflection room with a modest daily message cap, and no shared spaces yet. To actually talk together in the shared space, the Container needs to be on the plan. See The one plan, honestly and Managing your subscription.

Changing your space later

You can rename or remove a Container from its settings, and you can invite more people as the relationship grows. If you ever get stuck, Getting help points you to a real person.
